Class Encore Math 101 Learning Assistant
8o you enjoy creative problem-solving and helping build academic confidence? Are you interested in developing your leadership and communication skills? Apply to be a Class Encore Learning Assistant with Math 101 with the TAEC this fall!
CE Math 101 Learning Assistant is a program that hires students for 8-12 hours/week to help their peers develop confidence in their understanding and application of course concepts and practice successful learning strategies. Leaders participate in their partner course and co-host two to three (2-3) Study Space Hours. LAs can expect a variety of situations throughout the term, from requests for individual assistance to working simultaneously with a small group of students. Study Space Hours will be open to all students in Math 101; LAs can expect to see students from sections other than the ones they attend.
These hours will be scheduled in collaboration with other Math 101 LAs.
All Math 101 LAs will participate in an orientation and on-boarding program Sept 22nd from 2:30-5pm, location TBD. to familiarize themselves with expectations and best practices of assisting students in and out of the classroom. Math 101 LAs are also expected to complete the CRLA Tutor Training program hosted by the Tutoring and Academic Engagement Center.
Employment through the academic year is based on future course schedules and at the discretion of the Class Encore Coordinator.

Position Qualifications
Successful applicants will:
- be enrolled in a minimum 8 credits at UO, usually with sophomore, junior, or senior standing
- maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- have earned at least an A- in Math 111 at UO (Grades from other math courses may be substituted for meeting this requirement).
- demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- be committed to fostering equitable and inclusive environments
- be available to complete the orientation (Sept 22nd) and work the full schedule of assigned hours.
Preferred qualifications:
- evidence of success in related coursework
- experience as a tutor, teaching assistant, or peer mentor
- an interest in teaching
