Class Encore Leader
Are you interested in developing your leadership and communication skills? Do you enjoy thinking about how you learn and retain information? Apply to be a Class Encore Leader!
Class Encore is a program that hires students for 10-15 hours/week to help their peers develop confidence in their understanding and application of course concepts and practice successful learning strategies. New Class Encore Leaders will participate in weekly staff meetings and lead 2-3 Class Encore study groups each week (starting Week 2).
Class Encore Leaders are expected to attend ALL classes for their partner course.
All new Class Encore Leaders are expected to participated in paid training prior to leading study groups. Class Encore Leaders who are new and holding study groups for Spring 2024 will participate in an asynchronous training and on-going in-person training through out the term with the Class Encore Coordinator and their assigned mentor leader.
For CE Leaders starting fall 2024, training will be in-person from 9a-2p, location is TBD on September 26 and 27. All Class Encore employees are required to complete CRLA training offered through TAEC. Details to follow.
Pay: $16.00/hr
Hours: minimum 10 per week.

Position Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- be enrolled in a minimum of 8 credits at UO, usually with sophomore standing or higher
- maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
- demonstrate competency in the course content (usually have earned at least an A- at UO in the course you will support)
- Class Encore leaders must attend all class sessions for partner course
- be committed to fostering learning environments where students with diverse social identities feel valued and included
- demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- be available to complete orientation and work a minimum of 10 hours per week
Preferred qualifications:
- evidence of success in related coursework
- experience as a tutor, teaching assistant, or peer mentor
- an interest in teaching
Learning Assistant: Math 101
Do you enjoy creative problem-solving and helping build academic confidence? Are you interested in developing your leadership and communication skills? Apply to be a Class Encore Learning Assistant with Math 101 with the TAEC this fall!
CE Math 101 Learning Assistant is a program that hires students for 8-12 hours/week to help their peers develop confidence in their understanding and application of course concepts and practice successful learning strategies. Leaders participate in their partner course and co-host two to three (2-3) Study Space Hours. LAs can expect a variety of situations throughout the term, from requests for individual assistance to working simultaneously with a small group of students. Study Space Hours will be open to all students in Math 101; LAs can expect to see students from sections other than the ones they attend.
These hours will be scheduled in collaboration with other Math 101 LAs.
All Math 101 LAs will participate in an orientation and on-boarding program Sept 21st from 2:30-4:30pm, location TBD. to familiarize themselves with expectations and best practices of assisting students in and out of the classroom. Math 101 LAs are also expected to complete the CRLA Tutor Training program hosted by TAEC.
Employment through the academic year is based on future course schedules and at the discretion of the Class Encore Coordinator.
