Peer Academic Coach
Do you enjoy supporting others to reach their fullest potential? Do you like sharing what you’ve learned from your own experiences as a student ? Are you interested in championing your peers and offering guidance about how you learned to be thrive at the UO? If so, you may be interested in becoming a Peer Academic Coach (PAC).
TAEC’s Peer Academic Coaches meet one-on-one with students to help them refine and enhance their academic strategies and to work productively through the challenges of being a student. Coaching sessions are student driven and PACs offer guidance and expertise, shaped by research and their own experiences. These conversations are designed to support students seeking to improve their study skills, time management, note-taking methods and more.
Peer Academic Coaches will also conduct outreach to course and student groups to advertise programming at the TAEC. PACs will also provide workshops on demand to FIG and ARC courses, highlighting study skills and strategies. Further, new PACs will work with returning Peer Academic Coaches to shape learning resources and program development.
New Peer Academic Coaches will be expected to participate in an orientation and on-boarding program September 26th and 27th from 9a-2p, location Knight Library. This program is designed to familiarize new Peer Academic Coaches with program expectations, develop skills in facilitating one-on-one consultations, and working on best practices of assisting students in building habits for college-level success. Peer Academic Coaches are also expected to complete the CRLA Peer Educator training through the TAEC – details to follow.
