Mission
The Tutoring and Academic Engagement Center provides a centralized academic community that empowers students to enhance their learning. Focusing on first- and second-year students, TAEC offers support to bridge subject and skill gaps, strengthen performance in critical coursework, and achieve their educational goals and timely graduation.

Tutoring
The TAEC tutoring program empowers students to achieve their academic goals through personalized and comprehensive peer-led support. Tutoring services are available in several modalities (e.g., drop-in, appointments and course specific reviews) to meet the diverse needs of our UO students.

Supplemental Instruction (Class Encore)
Through strategic partnerships with large lecture, highly challenging, major gateway courses, Class Encore provides weekly, peer-led study groups that focus on crafting engaging and collaborative learning environments that enhance participants’ communication and critical thinking skills.

Learning Specialists
Learning Specialists support students in reaching their academic goals through collaborative, one-on-one conversations. Learning Specialists provide perspectives on effective study skills to support student growth and build confidence in their learning practice.

Peer Academic Coaching
Peer Academic Coaches (PACs) offer undergraduates regular opportunities to connect one-on-one or in small groups to explore personal academic skill development and refinement, build a sense of accountability and support, and access available campus resources.

Summer Bridge
Summer Bridge provides an on-ramp for incoming first-year students entering the University of Oregon. Through strategic programming, student participants explore the rigors of higher education, build a sense of community and belonging with their peers, and develop academic success skills.

Courses
TAEC courses provide a structured environment for students to explore new skills and hone their practice of learning. Courses review effective methods and encourage reflection, experimentation, and refinement of skills that support students’ academic success.

Headquartered on the 4th floor of Knight Library, the Tutoring and Academic Engagement Center (TAEC) offers free study skills, writing, language, math, and science support for all undergraduates. Class Encore Syllabus Statement
Class Encore is a UO program through the Tutoring and Academic Engagement Center that offers free study groups for specific courses facilitated by peer Leaders. Leaders have passed the course previously and work to craft opportunities for you to engage with your classmates in activities and problems, helping you hone your study practices and deepen knowledge in the course.
